68 százalékkal magasabbak az acélárak az Egyesült Államokban, mint a globális gazdaságban, miután tavaly augusztus óta 160 százalékkal nőttek az árak az országban. A kínainál pedig kétszer olyan drága az amerikai acél, pedig az ázsiai óriásban is jelentős áremelkedést regisztráltak – írja a Reuters, amely szerint a tavalyi leállás után egyszerre kezdtek el ismét dolgozni a gyárak, ami annyira megnövelte az igényt, hogy óriási hiány keletkezett és elszálltak az árak.
Az amerikai acélgyártók azért is lobbiznak Joe Biden elnöknél, hogy fenntartsa a Donald Trump vezette kormányzat által bevezetett büntetőtarifákat, így helyi terméket vásároljanak a cégek. Csakhogy a 25 százalékos büntetővámmal is megéri Kínából acélt importálni, mert mára akkora lett árkülönbözet – írja a lap.
Ezért aztán 18 százalékkal nőtt az USA acélimportja tavaly. Jelen pillanatban ráadásul nem is csak a tarifák, hanem a logisztikai problémák hátráltatják az importot az Egyesült Államokban, ahol kevés a konténer. Júniusra mégiscsak mindenki az acélimport további növekedésére számít az acéliparban, ha fennmarad az áruhiány a piacon.
Persze nem mindenki jár rosszul: az acélgyártók részvényeinek értéke 65 százalékkal nőtt a tőzsdén múlt augusztus óta, sőt a Fitch tőzsdeminősítő szerint az USA acélgyártó cégei 45 százalékos profitrátát értek el januárban, így nagyon valószínű, hogy ez a negyedév az eddigi legjobb profitot hozza az amerikai acélgyártóknak.
