Egy amerikai szövetségi bíró leállíttatta az erősen vitatott Dakota Access kőolajvezetéket azzal az indokkal, hogy nem felel meg a környezetvédelmi követelményeknek.
James E Boasberg elrendelte a vezetékek és tározók kiürítését is. A határozat szerint addig nem indulhat újra a kőolajszállítás ezen a vonalon, amíg el nem készül egy alapos – a korábbinál körültekintőbb – környezettanulmány. Ez szakértők szerint legalább egy évbe telik majd.
Ez óriási győzelem a Standing Rock sziú indián törzsnek, amelyik a vezeték megépítése ellen folyó harc élére állt évekkel ezelőtt. El is érték, hogy Obama elnök leállítsa az építkezést, aminek aztán Donald Trump azonnal zöld utat adott. Három éve működik.
