 Putyin arra utasította Alekszej Miller Gazprom-elnököt, hogy miután a vállalat november 7-ig vagy 8-ig befejezi a gáz szivattyúzását az orosz földalatti tárolókba, kezdje meg a tervezett munkálatokat a saját európai – ausztriai és németországi – földalatti tárolóiba irányuló gázmennyiség növelésére.
 Az államfő szerint: ez lehetővé teszi a Gazprom számára, hogy megbízhatóan, stabilan és ütemezetten teljesítse szerződéses kötelezettségeit, valamint hogy az őszi és téli időszakban ellássa gázzal európai partnereit, és hogy egészében kedvezőbb helyzetet teremtsen az európai energiapiacon.
