 A szenátusban sikerült megegyezésre jutni, így elkerülhető a kormányzat leállása – jelentette be szerdán Twitter-oldalán Chuck Schumer, a demokrata többség vezetője.
 Az elfogadandó törvény december elejéig biztosítja a kormányzat működését, de azt csütörtök éjfélig meg kell szavaznia a képviselőháznak is, ez utóbbi azonban nem okoz gondot, hiszen a kormányzat leállását a republikánusok sem akarják. Ők csak az adósságplafon emelésére nem hajlandók, ezért a két ügyet külön is választották a törvényhozásban. Az adósságplafon kérdésének rendezésére is alig több mint két hét áll rendelkezésre, különben a szövetségi kormány október 18-ig kifogyhat a készpénzből.
